Two Haitian members of the South Windsor Haiti School Task Force will be available to meet the public at an open house on Sept. 12.

Michel Lesly Louis and Francoise Louis will be at the home of Saud and Yusra Anwar, 93 Rockledge Drive, on Sept. 12 from noon to 4 p.m.

The Louises are helping the task force secure land in Haiti that will be the site of a new elementary school. The effort comes in the wake of the powerful earthquake that rocked Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital, in January, leaving more than 150,000 dead or missing and damaging or destroying many buildings. The couple will discuss the widespread devastation in their homeland and give a first-hand account of the massive and slow-moving reconstruction of Haiti since the quake.
